Update News About 'Ram Leela' Starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh??

Two years after the under-valued Guzaarish master-creator Sanjay Leela Bhansali returns to his Gujarati roots for a Gujju rendering of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet with oodles of colours, vivacity and flamboyance. Bhansali admits for now he’s done with films about physically and emotionally disabled characters.

The wait is over. After months and months of speculation, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has finally released the first look poster of his upcoming film 'Ram Leela', which is touted as a Gujarati version of Shakespeare's classic 'Romeo and Juliet'.

For months, Ranveer Singh's look for 'Ram Leela' was kept under wraps. Then, when the 'Band Baaja Baraat' boy could take it no longer, Sanjay gave him permission to step outside and be seen by the public. His bearded frame instantly drew gasps from the waiting media and audiences, for we all wondered: was THIS to be Bhansali's version of the cult classic epic hero Romeo?

But now, all fears have been assuaged and laid to rest: for both Ranveer and Deepika look positively stunning in the first look poster. The poster shows the couple standing atop a bed of guns and rifles. Ranveer is bare-torsoed (hello six-packs!) and is cradling the six-foot tall beauty Deepika Padukone in his arms. Ranveer's right arm has an amulet or a 'taveez' strung tightly around it, perhaps to focus more on his muscular girth. And the sexy star even has an earring in one ear, symbolic of the traditional piercings worn by Gujarati men

Deepika, on her part is wearing a traditional yet exquisite Gujarati lehenga choli, in the vibrant colours of red and green. The lehenga reportedly weighed a whopping 30 kgs and has a 50 meter ghera designed by Anju Modi!
Ram Leela is a happy, feisty and, ummmm, tasty take on a love tale that refuses to get wrinkled. Deepika Padukone as ‘Leela’ Juliet and Ranveer Singh as ‘Ram’ Romeo would take their promising careers to the next level with this eye-catching feast of music, dances and songs (composed by director Bhansali himself). The film also stars that supremely talented spunky siren Richa Chadha from Gangs Of Wasseypur and has been shot in Kutch. Expected to be released in July-August.
