Update News About Paula Deen Denies Being Drunk on Live TV after Bizarre Appearance on Today Show
Or a margarita too many before appearing on The Today Show in Miami this morning, as the chef chatted up Al Roker in a strange segment alongside her kin.
Paula Deen raised a few eyebrows on Friday morning after a rather bizarre appearance on the Today show. But a spokesperson for the southern chef, 66, has denied speculation she was drunk on air. She put on quite a show with racy dance moves and raunchy jokes about cooking 'chicken balls.'
She also rattled on about how a skunk sprayed her before the show.
Her representative told TMZ on Friday afternoon that she is not a drinker (she insisted her mojito be 'virgin' when presented with a cocktail on the show).
A source told Radar 'she wasn't drinking on the set,' adding Paula was simply 'really, really tired' after attending a food festival the night before.
Deen is no stranger to controversy or using colourful language when it comes to her own cooking show.
Last year a raunchy blooper reel showed the Food Network star's foul mouth as she declared her food 'smelt like stinky coochie'.
Posted on the New York Post's website, the video was a series of outtakes from her Food Network show, Paula Deen's Home Cooking, in which she seasoned her dishes with some colourful language.
Shockingly it turned out that she willingly handed over the offensive film to be used as an introduction for her at celebrity chef events.
At one point in the expletive-laden footage, Deen sampled one of the home cooked meals, declaring: 'That's one of the nastiest meatballs I've ever tasted' before divulging that 'My ass ain't pretty no more!'
In another clip she pretended to perform a sex act on a chocolate eclair, popping it in her mouth and sucking on it erotically.
'Bastard,' she chirped merrily in the clip, doing a playful jig behind the stove as she buttered a pan.
The video then cut to a shot of her leaping backwards from a burst of flames gasping 'god damn'.
'S***' and 'mother f*****' were also dropped by Deen as she pranced around her kitchen.
In the clip that was more than enough to put you off your dinner, Deen sniffed her fingers and said 'phew... they smell like stinky coochie,' wrinkling up her nose and turning away from the dish she was preparing in disgust.
Deen submitted the blooper-reel to a group called Celebrity Chef Tours, with the intent of having it played before she appeared at a series of live cooking events.
But celebrity Chef President Garry Ravet axed the ranchy video, refusing to show it.
'We found it to be unacceptable because it's certainly not family content,' said Ravet at the time. 'We wouldn't play something like that for a live audience.'
According to the Post. Deen backed out of the 10-city tour, and a fierce legal battle ensued between the fiesty chef and promoters.
Deen sued Ravet for $1.25 million, claiming his company had bounced the cheque to her. In retaliation Ravet counter-sued her for $40 million for breach of contract.
Deen professed her love for "chicken balls." She interrupted her son at every turn. She couldn't stand still and she caused viewers to wonder: Is Deen going all Diane Swayer on election night?
Is she wasted?!?
